When Rahmon joined our CrossFit Teens program two years ago, it was clear he wasn't your average 16 year old. Rahmon would ride his bike from Norristown to workout several times a week (often for early AM classes!) Rahmon not only has remained dedicated to his fitness (including during quarantine) but has consistently served as a role model to the other youth, in his positive outlook, determination and in how he supports his peers.
When one of our teen athletes began struggling with mental health during the quarantine, Rahmon took time to write and send a letter (in the mail!) to offer support and words of encouragement. Rahmon wrote about what he has personally overcame including coming to America from Nigeria as a young teenager and the difficulties having to adjust; including dealing with peers that weren't always so nice.
Rahmon is a shining example of resilience. With every difficulty he remains positive, and is able to stay focused on his goals. We have been so lucky to have him a part of our community these past two years; no matter how far life takes him , he will always have CFKOP to come home to!
Throughout high school Rahmon has participated in Junior ROTC, making us proud on several occasions winning regional fitness competitions. After graduating this month from Norristown High School, Rahmon will be heading to basic training for the National Guard this summer. In the fall he plans to attend community college or an online program; with hopes to enroll in a 4 year university in the spring of 2021.
All of us at CrossFit King of Prussia wish you the best of luck, Rahmon! Don't ever let the light inside of you go out, you will no doubt impact the lives of all who know you.
